Health and Wellness

Maintaining a long, healthy life for your horse starts with routine preventative medicine. An annual wellness exam allows us to do a comprehensive evaluation of all your horse’s body systems to ensure proper function and to establish a baseline to detect any changes that may indicate disease. Preventative medicine includes regular vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, hoof care, and dental exams. As every horse is different, we strive to customize a health plan that works for you and your horse.

Vaccinations

We follow the AAEP guidelines for vaccination and our core vaccinations include:

• Eastern Equine Encephalitis
• Western Equine Encephalitis
• Tetanus Toxoid
• West Nile Virus
• Rabies Virus

If your horse travels to shows, is in a boarding barn, or is in a training barn; the following vaccinations are frequently recommended:

• Equine Influenza (Flu)
• Rhinopneumonitis (Rhino)
• Strangles

Parasite control

Through routine fecal exams, we are able to isolate the ‘shedders’ on your farm and create a program that targets the shedding population and spares treatment to those horses not burdened by parasites. This program is highly specific to individual farms and situations. We are here to consult with you to develop a program specific to your individual farm»s needs.
