Our History
Piedmont Equine originated from the sole practice of Dr. Daniel R. Pike in 2009 operating from a single ambulatory unit. In February of 2010, Dr. John R. Elliott joined him as co-owner of Piedmont Equine Associates. Drs. Pike and Elliott both graduated from the University of Georgia – School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. As former classmates and then co-owners of Piedmont Equine they built a business serving thousands of clients in just a few short years.
The progression of growth was second to none in the veterinary industry moving from a single structure on Hanover Drive in Madison to the existing location on Morris Road in Madison in 2012. The structure was enlarged in 2018 to incorporate a surgical suite, covered arena, and full pharmacy in 2018. As a result of their dedication and hard work, Piedmont Equine became a brand recognized by many throughout the southeast, being nominated and placing both in 2018 and 2022 in the Bulldog Top 100 businesses established and operated by successful graduates of the University of Georgia.
Our clinic is located on 26 picturesque acres just off Highway 441 in Madison, Georgia. We are less than 5 miles from I-20 and less than ½ mile from Highway 441. Our practice has one-way traffic lane for trailers and staff to assist with loading and unloading our horses. With a large covered arena and multiple treatment rooms, we can provide comfort to clients and exams during all seasons of the year.
The Piedmont Equine Team
Piedmont Equine is fortunate to have seven licensed equine veterinarians. Our ambulatory services cover the Madison area and a 45-mile radius surrounding practice. We pride ourselves on prompt responses to emergencies that arise both during business hours and within a 30-mile radius on nights and weekends.
Our Facility
We have a wide variety of turnout options, including small and large paddocks. The clinic features a laboratory, pharmacy, reproduction lab, standing surgery/exam room, and surgery suite. We also provide 23 stalls designed for our more intensive care patients for the best possible attention. To enhance the safety and monitoring of our patients, all indoor stalls are under 24-hour camera surveillance.
Ambulatory & Hospital Care
With a team of eight staff veterinarians, 2 intern veterinarians, a hospital, and a fleet of fully stocked vet trucks, we offer services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During business hours, our ambulatory service covers a 45-mile radius of the practice and after-hours emergencies up to 30 miles for our clients. Our equine hospital equipped with stalls, exam rooms, arena, and a complete surgical suite is prepared and ready to treat your patient upon arrival.
